6th Century Conference
So called '6th Century Conference in Reprensentation Theory' is going on in Aberdeen. It celebrates forming a new research group in representation theory in the department on the occasion of its 500th anniversary.
The conference is held at Mitchell Hall in Marischall College. Marischall College was united with King's College at 1860 to form the current University of Aberdeen. As a result of the unite, James C. Maxwell, then the mathematics chair at Marischall College, lost his position. What a poor decision of Aberdeen.
Maclaurin's book about Newtonian mechanics on display in Mitschell Hall. He was appointed as a mathematics professor at Marischall College at the age of nineteen.
